What is Taijiquan:

Taijiquan is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline which is similar in many ways to yoga, and to many other Eastern disciplines which cultivate inner energy.

Taijiquan is deeply rooted in Chinese culture, and its language and theories are based on a Chinese holistic viewpoint. The movements are based on the theory of "Jing Luo," the acupuncture lines, and "Qi," the life-energy's circulation through these lines. The goal of Tai Ji is to improve the quality of life and vitality. The system is based on a series of natural and harmonious movements, which coordinate the body and consciousness. The body stretches and contracts, opens and closes, and one works on centering, posture and relaxation.

Through practicing Tai Ji, the inner organs are massaged, and the circulation of energy is increased. By training 15-20 min. a day for a year, one can attain greater strength, better health, and a feeling of relaxation and joy. Taijiquan requires little room and no equipment, no special clothing or space. Nor does it dictate any special life style having to do with religion or diet. Taijiquan can teach us to economize our strength and to use our bodies more ergonomically correct. The essence of Tai Ji Quan is to train on the pysical, mental and spiritual levels.
